Why Choose Us
Whats different with Phoenix Community Transport
Unlike many operators Phoenix Community Transport services are available at most times, dependant on staff availability and back up, such as on Christmas Day.
The quality of our service is important and our vehicles are maintained and presented to a good standard.
We have invested heavily in staff training and all drivers are trained to the MiDAS standard. We constantly review staff training, including training for staff not involved in service delivery. We are an equal opportunities employer.
Our services are constantly monitored and reviewed and the views of our passengers are always welcome.
Phoenix Community Transport is sensitive to change and quick to respond to changes for the benefit of the organisation or passenger needs. Changes are made quickly but with sensitivity towards staff and service users.
Phoenix Community Transport offer help, support and advice to other groups regarding journey planning and have assisted groups looking to fund transport for their groups or areas.
We aim to be pro-active in the community and have plans to extend our services in our operational area.
Business Location and Facilities
Phoenix Community Transport is located on two sites in Penmaen, Pontllanfraith. The depot, a former council yard, includes a fully equipped workshop with a vehicle lift. There is also secure storage for our vehicles.
The office, which covers operations and administration, is a short walk from the depot on Penmaen Small Business Centre.
The location has excellent road links with other parts of the county borough making it easy to respond to situations needing service support. When needed the Service Support Vehicle and/or a replacement vehicle can be sent out with the minimum of fuss in order to support a variety of operational situations.
Phoenix Community Transport intend to consolidate its position as the premier accessible transport provider in the County Borough setting our current high standards as a base level.
Funds have been applied for to start two new projects. One in the Markham – Argoed – Hollybush – Manmoel area and one in the Oakdale – Croespenmaen – Aberbeeg – Crumlin area. The services created will provide transport to these isolated areas which are also areas of high depravation. The new services will also link in with each other and the Runner which currently operates in the Upper Rhymney Valley.
Links have been forged with other CT operators in the vicinity with a view to the provision of a seamless service in the Heads of the Valleys area. Phoenix Community Transport can bring sound operational experience to the partnership backed up by our successful operation of the Runner project on behalf of Caerphilly County Borough Council.
Phoenix Community Transport will continue to promote improvement through staff training and support and by maintaining a quality service to our passengers.
Phoenix Community Transport will continue to forge partnerships and links with other operators as well as voluntary and statutory organisations in the area and will seek to play an active part in the community in which we work.
Phoenix Community Transport is a private company limited by guarantee as well as being a registered charity. Governance is via a board of Trustee/Directors who take a keen interest in the project.
The organisation has developed and improved greatly over the past two years with obvious benefits to staff and those who use the service.
It is the aim of the management and staff to continue these improvements and maintain our position as the premier provider of community transport in the area.
